Lord Independent School is a non-denominantial school dedicated to providing a nurturing and secure environment that places children at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to fostering a love for learning through innovative teaching methods and a curriculum that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and academic excellence.

Guided by our principle, “Where Children Matter,” we strive to create responsible citizens who contribute positively to society. Our focus on personalized care and small class sizes ensures that each student receives the attention and support they need to thrive both academically and personally in a values-driven, community-oriented atmosphere.

One Year GCSE / IGCSE

You may need to resist some GCSEs for a number of reasons. We can offer you resit courses in English Language and Mathematics. GCSEs are offered as an intensive one-year programme beginning in September. This is suitable for students of all ages who may want to resist due to family relocation, illness or personal circumstances.

Our small class sizes ensure that you will have a greater chance of success as we can offer more personalised teaching and additional tutoring. Our experienced teachers will use regular homework and testing to ensure you are on track to pass or increase your grades.  We have a three-phase approach to our teaching. You will be able to watch classes on each topic and review lessons before they are taught in person. Your tutor will help you improve your skills and support you with your advancement onto an A Level course or equivalent qualifications.

Bespoke sessions are provided to students so that they may work towards achieving these qualifications. Please get in touch with us to arrange a call to discuss how we can help.

Amazing School

I am writing in support of Lords Independent School.

When searching for a suitable school for my daughter early 2025, I wanted somewhere that could provide a nurturing and supportive environment. Too often, modern education seems to focus almost exclusively on grades and academic performance. While academic achievement is important, it should not come at the expense of a child’s wellbeing, confidence, and sense of self.

Lords is a beautiful school with a calm and welcoming atmosphere. I was particularly impressed with the small class sizes, which allow children to feel seen, supported, and understood. For many children, large classrooms and constant academic pressure can be overwhelming.

There is a group of children who are often overlooked in mainstream education — the “in-betweeners.” These are young people who are academically capable and may function well on paper, but who nevertheless struggle with the intense pressures of school life, exams, and large, busy environments. Because they are able academically, they often do not meet the criteria for additional support, yet they still feel overwhelmed.

Schools like Lords provide an essential alternative. They recognise that education should nurture the whole child — emotionally, socially, and academically — rather than focusing solely on measurable outcomes.

From what I observed while looking for a school for my daughter, Lords offers exactly this kind of environment. It is a place where children who may feel lost or pressured in larger systems can regain confidence, develop at their own pace, and rediscover a positive relationship with learning.

For these reasons, I strongly support the work and ethos of Lords Independent School.

Child’s progress

I’m am so happy with my sons progress since he has gone to this school he is hitting all his grades and is so much happier in there, the offsted report was shocking as its far from the truth it really is a school were all children matter and you can talk to any staff member at ease.

A Nurturing Environment for Growth and Learning

Whilst the most recent inspection report may not have fully captured the strengths of the school, my personal experience of Lord’s as a parent has been overwhelmingly positive. The progress my daughter has made, particularly in her literacy, reading confidence and overall enthusiasm for learning, since starting the school in September 2024, speaks volumes about the dedication and effectiveness of the teaching staff. One of the standout features of Lords is it’s smaller class sizes, which foster a close-knit community and allows the children to interact and collaborate well. This personalised approach ensures each child receives the attention they need to thrive both academically and socially. I believe the school provides a nurturing and encouraging environment that truly benefits the students. My daughter is already getting excited for her future and further education, I think Lords is the perfect place to prepare her for these things, and has already made a big, positive impact.

An understanding and supportive learning environment

My eldest child faced the prospect of being ‘out of education’ until I found this wonderful and understanding environment. Having faced extreme difficulties in main stream education and despite being a very troubled and difficult individual, he attended every day and finished his school journey with the support. He is now a successful and well rounded individual with a successful career ahead of him.
My youngest child, with additional needs and a quite serious health condition, has gone from being approximately 2 years behind his peers, to thriving. This is all thanks to the supportive and nurturing staff and the special nurturing environment that the school runs.
Both my children felt safe and cared about. Their confidence has grown along with their academic ability and understanding of the wider world around them. Thank you for being amazing!
